01 / GETTING STARTED

  • Easy. Use the Contact button or email me at rosy@rosykhan.com with your request.

    When reaching out, tell me a little about your project. You may know what you want already but if not, that’s OK — we can schedule a chat and find the best way to approach your project.

    If you’d like a custom quote, tell me as much of the following as possible:

    • Your budget range for the project

    • Script length in time and/or word count, or send a copy even if it’s not yet final

    • Will the content be used in paid media/advertising or is it non-paid/non-broadcast

    • The platforms that the voiceover will be used on/available on

    • How and where it will be used (who is the end client, industry, intended audience and geographical reach)

    • The deadline for your project

    • Whether or not you/your client want to listen in and direct the session

    • Any custom add-ons such as file splitting, hiring an external studio or engineer

    • What the likelihood of revisions will be

    Once everything’s in order and we’ve agreed a rate, I’ll send you a contract to sign.

  • A script, a signed contract that includes your agreement not to use my audio for AI or to train AI, and a deposit of at least 50% of the agreed budget for the project.

    For new clients I reserve the right to charge the full fee upfront and receive payment prior to delivering the finished audio.

    It also helps to know:

    • Who the VO is in relation to the audience, e.g. a trainer, colleague, spokesperson, trusted friend, etc.

    • If there will be music. If available, please share a clip as this will help me match my tone and pacing with the music.

    • If you have a storyboard or a video. You can share a draft. It doesn’t have to be final. In fact, it’s often better to add the video to the voice, not the other way round.

    • Some direction (specs). A few adjectives to help me understand the tone and style you’re after, e.g. calm; casual and conversational; serious.

    • A pronunciation guide for unusual, technical or foreign words and names.

    • Your preferred platform options if you want to live direct me or listen in to the session.

    • Any file naming conventions I need to follow.

    • Any specific timings that need to be hit.

    • Any audio file delivery preferences.

  • I’d suggest marking your script with clear speaker labels (if applicable), scene or section headers, and pronunciation notes for any unusual terms or names.

    Try to avoid sending scripts in all caps or long run-on paragraphs. Even just bolding important words or adding notes in brackets makes it easier for me to interpret your intent and deliver an accurate, effective voiceover.

02 / THE PROCESS

  • Once you’ve emailed the signed contract back, I’ll start work (if I haven’t already). You’ll have your broadcast quality files within 24–48 hours unless we’ve agreed on a different timeline. If you have any problems or need a revision, just let me know. Once you sign off that you’re completely happy, I’ll send an invoice.

  • I make the process easy, smooth, and stress-free. I’ll sweat the small stuff so you don’t have to. You can focus instead on what you do best and better serve your clients and your business.

    I work thoughtfully and deliberately, with care and attention. Clients appreciate that I’m professional, dependable, and ethical, with high delivery standards.

  • Typically I record on my own, as I’m fully equipped to deliver high-quality audio independently, using your notes on direction. Many clients prefer to send over a finalised script and let me handle the rest.

    That said, you’re very welcome to join a session live — there’s no extra charge. You can listen in and give feedback in real time via Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, SessionLinkPro, Cleanfeed, Bodalgo Call, or regular phone call — whatever works for you. Live direction is helpful if you have specific guidance or want to fine-tune tone, pacing, energy and emphasis in the moment.

    I’m comfortable taking creative direction in real time. Feedback is a gift, and I’ll do whatever it takes to get us across the finish line.

  • Along with the final script, it helps to have: a pronunciation guide (names, abbreviations, specialist terminology), the tone you’re looking for, the audience you’re targeting, any music that will be added (if available), sample references, and your preferred pacing.

    The more information you can provide, the more time we both save; I can deliver exactly what you need without the need for revisions and extra sessions.

    Note: when recording longer projects on my own (non-directed or self-directed sessions) such as long form narration, e-learning, audiobooks, etc., I will normally send a recorded sample for your approval before I start, to make sure we are aligned on style, tone and pacing. The approved sample will serve as a reference for us both throughout the project.

  • I work from my professional recording studio in Doha. I’m happy to record at studios in London when visiting the UK.  I travel there regularly, so you’re welcome to ask about my upcoming schedule and availability.

03 / RATES & LOGISTICS

  • My rates start from US$300; it all depends on what you need. Voiceover project types (genres) vary greatly, and each is priced differently.

    My rates are based on industry standard rates for non-union actors. They are commensurate with experience and usage; there is no single fixed rate.

    Non-broadcast narration is charged on a flat fee project basis. This varies by project type (e.g. eLearning, explainer), industry, where and how long it will be used, delivery turnaround time, script length in words or time, complexity of content, and any custom add-ons such as file splitting or hiring an external studio or engineer.

    Broadcast commercial voiceover also includes usage fees and/or buyouts. Usage is dictated by the commercial value of the intended audience, the platforms, and the reach. For UK TV usage fees, usefee.tv is useful. The GVAA Rate Guide, Gravy for the Brain Rate Guide, and similar resources set out industry minimums in their respective markets (USA, UK, etc.). Note: these are industry averages, not personal quotes.

  • My service fee (not including usage fees) includes preparation time, the recording fee, studio time, basic audio editing, skill and talent. Any mistakes I make will be re-recorded at no charge. A full edit is an additional fee.

  • US Dollars.

    GBP or Euro if agreed upfront.

  • On average we speak at around 120–150 words per minute (WPM). Knowing how long it will take to read a script helps me with accurate quoting and managing studio time.

    You can use a words-to-time calculator like this one from Edge Studio as a starting point. A few tips:

    • The timing from any calculator is an average — you can adjust for slower or faster pacing as needed.

    • To find the word count in Word, look at the bottom left of the window. On a Mac, click the “View” menu and select “Show Word Count”.

    • We read much faster in our heads than out loud — try reading your script aloud for a realistic timing.

    • Reading from screens tends to be slower than from printed materials.

    • Reading rate varies based on content complexity, rhythm, intonation, emphasis, and intentional pauses.

    • AI sample voices aren’t a reliable timing guide since they don’t pause to breathe, capture emotional nuance, or convey humour the way humans do.

  • 24–48 hours for projects under 10 minutes. For longer projects, turnaround times vary depending on length and complexity, but I pride myself on delivering on time, every time. Just let me know your deadline upfront and I’ll prioritise accordingly.

  • Yes, this is negotiable and generally available.

  • Arabian Standard Time (GMT +3, EST +8, PST +11).

    My central location works well for clients in North America, UK, Europe, Asia and beyond.

  • When you receive the invoice. For regular clients, payment is net 30 days.

    I accept payments via Wise, PayPal and/or bank transfer. Details are on the invoice.

  • I understand — it happens. Please notify me as soon as possible and I will stop all work. Depending on the stage of the project, a cancellation fee may apply, calculated based on work completed and costs incurred up to that point. I will provide an itemised account. Any payments made prior to cancellation are non-refundable.

  • Yes. As a former lawyer, I understand the importance of confidentiality, particularly for corporate, legal, healthcare and other sensitive projects. I am happy to sign a standard Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) when required. Just let me know before we begin.

04 / DURING THE PROJECT

  • 48 kHz, 24-bit WAV files, ensuring studio-grade sound quality. If you need MP3 or another format, just let me know beforehand.

    I will deliver cleaned and edited files ready for production, or raw/unprocessed audio if you have your own engineer. Please confirm your preference before we start. I offer up to five split audio files free of charge; additional file splitting is chargeable at US$1.00 per file.

  • WeTransfer.

    If you prefer Smash, Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox, let me know when booking.

  • Yes. This is easiest to achieve in a live-directed session.

05 / AFTER DELIVERY

  • No problem and no charge. For best results:

    • Highlight or mark any script changes clearly.

    • If your voiceover is synced to video, include timecodes or timestamps to help ensure precise alignment.

    • The more context you provide, the more efficiently I can update the voiceover while maintaining consistency with the original audio.

  • My goal is to give you as pleasant an experience as possible and get it right the first time, so the more information I have before the initial recording the better. However, I understand updates and changes happen.

    Here’s how I handle them:

    • Retakes due to my error (pickups): Free

    • Minor script revisions (1–2 words or short sentence changes up to 10% of the original script length based on word count): Free

    • Moderate script revisions (10%-25%): an additional fee applies, typically 25–50% of the original project fee

    • Major script revisions (25%+): treated as a new job

    • Performance retakes or rereads (for tone, energy, pacing, etc.): One round is free for projects under 5 minutes, provided the script remains unchanged. A "round" constitutes one consolidated set of notes addressed in a single session. Multiple rounds of notes submitted separately will each be treated as a new retake round. Additional rounds are considered revisions and billed accordingly.

    • For projects longer than 5 minutes I may require your approval of a short sample before recording the project. A reread request after a sample has been approved will be charged as a new project.

    Note: Any additional fees are based on the original service fee and will factor in recording time, editing and delivery. Actual costs will be determined per individual project. I will initially determine what is minor, moderate or major regarding script revisions and discuss this with you before I proceed. I may, at my discretion, require a 50% payment deposit received before I proceed with recording of revisions or retakes. Charges for revisions or retakes will be billed separately prior to delivery of a rerecorded script.

    All revision or retake requests should be submitted within 14 days of audio delivery.

  • 24–48 hours, quicker if urgent.

  • Yes, I save files for a reasonable period — at least 3 years. If you anticipate needing new versions or updates in the future, it helps to give me a heads up so I can ensure your files are archived accordingly.

06 / AI & VOICE CLONING

  • Use of my voice or likeness for AI training, cloning, synthesis, or reproduction is strictly prohibited. See my Terms of Use for more details. A similar AI and cloning prohibition is included in the terms and conditions of our agreement.

07 / CONTRACTS & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

  • Yes, all services are subject to terms and conditions to be agreed. That said, we can agree the main terms by email because emails can form a binding contract. Our agreement is subject to my standard business terms and conditions (TCs) which are referred to in my proposal. The TCs take effect once you accept the proposal.

    My terms and conditions are governed by English law. They cover services, usage, recording, intellectual property, AI and cloning prohibition, payment, delivery, revisions, limitations of liability, cancellation, force majeure, and dispute resolution, among other things.

  • Rukhsana Khan, d/b/a Rosy Khan. (Rukhsana is my legal name). You are granted a licence to use the recordings within the scope and subject to the terms we have agreed.

09 / STUDIO & PERSONAL

  • I work with high-end equipment to guarantee the best quality. My booth is a dedicated acoustically treated space. My microphones include the Rode NT1000, Sennheiser MK4, and Sennheiser MKH 416. I record into Reaper on a (silent) MacBook Air via an Audient ID14 interface, connected by Mogami Gold XLR cables. I use Waves plugins when needed and monitor through Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro headphones. I have superfast Ethernet and can book an audio engineer to run complex sessions if required.

  • I've invested heavily in my craft and continue to do so, which means you can be confident you're making the right choice.

    I’ve trained with Gravy for the Brain (UK), Edge Studio (New York), The Voice Actors Studio (Las Vegas), and City Lit (London). I completed Joel Froomkin’s 15-week acting for audio course. I regularly attend group classes and training at voice over industry conferences worldwide.

    I’ve also had regular 1-2-1 coaching from top voiceover coaches including Emily Jardine (UK) and David Goldberg (USA). 

    The learning never stops. Neither does coaching.

  • I voice in English (native) with a neutral British accent.

    I bring accurate pronunciation skills to French, German, Arabic, and Urdu words and names.

    1. I start my day by 4am (yes, 4) with meditation, light exercise and a big bottle of water. Hydration is a must!

    2. In my teens, I was a contestant on a popular British TV quiz show “Blockbusters”. I lost.

    3. Years later I appeared on The Oprah Show—in the audience—and sadly not the one where she gave everyone a brand-new car.

    4. Early in my legal career I had a manager who called me “Grasshopper” (Kung Fu anyone?)

    5. Books are my oxygen.

    6. My favourite song lyric is “I’d rather be a comma than a full stop.” – Coldplay.

    7. I love the sound of children laughing, early morning birdsong and smooth jazz.

    8. On weekends I love baking my moist-elicious carrot cake for friends and family. 

    9. I’m left-handed.
